THE SPECIAL FEATURES ARE A TRAP!

I bought the final FAMILY GUY take-off of STAR WARS entitled IT’S A TRAP! I suppose they could have called it RETURN OF THE CHEDDAR if they wanted to be a bit surreal. Perhaps there is already a STAR WARS themed cooking show with that title.
I found this third instalment better than the previous film SOMETHING, SOMETHING DARK SIDE which I complained about bitterly (see SOMETHING, SOMETHING, BORING) & received some nasty comments in reply! (Don’t look I’ve already deleted them.)
I laughed a few more times with this film and once again the animation was brilliant. I’m not a fan of THE CLEVELAND SHOW, (I’m not a fan of FAMILY GUY actually), but the inclusion of characters from CLEVELAND & AMERICAN DAD didn’t bother me. I suppose if you’re doing a take-off of STAR WARS you can use whoever you like, including the characters from LOST IN SPACE!
The special features were interesting, even the game of Trivial Pursuit. Having made my documentary about the STAR WARS exhibition at Scienceworks (see STAR WARS ON SHOW) I had to do a bit of research about the whole STAR WARS franchise but I could only guess a few of those trivia clues.
It seems that Endor is the name of the forest moon, not the name of the planet around which the forest moon orbits. In my doco I always referred to it as: ‘The forest moon of Endor’ as I wasn’t sure which was which. In that case what is the name of the planet then?
In a recent visit to Australia, Carrie Fischer was on GOOD NEWS WEEK & mentioned that most fans disliked RETURN OF THE JEDI. To which came the response, not as much as PHANTOM MENACE.
For me JEDI was one of my favorites. How can you destroy the Empire with just a bunch of teddy bears? How will Luke escape certain death being thrown into the Sarlacc pit? There’s just no way he can survive that & save the universe now!
I imagine the Sarlacc beast must either like the taste of sand or spend most of its day spitting it out.
Trust George Lucas to create yet another giant animal that lives in a place with virtually no food supply! There is certainly not enough food to allow the Sarlacc to grow so huge. And how can the space slug grow so huge living on an asteroid with only flying Mynocks & the occasional space ship for sustainance? To paraphrase my documentary, STAR WARS can happily ignore the laws of physics & evolution as well it seems.
Of course we mustn’t forget the Jabba the Hutt scene with Princess Leia in her metal bikini. I even have a take-off of this scene in my MIND PATROL sitcom. I recently photographed a girl who looked like Princess Leia & suggested we could put her in a metal bikini for the next photo shoot. Stay tuned!
Perhaps I should go back & revisit SOMETHING, SOMETHING DARK SIDE. Perhaps I should sit down & watch all 3 of them back to back. Perhaps it is just as well that they aren’t going to parody the 3 prequels. Who would play Ja Ja Binks?
