DR WHO-DUNNIT?

Here is a letter I sent to the Green Guide a couple of weeks ago in response to a review of the new series of DR WHO from the previous week’s paper.

“Just to clarify the review of the new Dr Who series in last weeks Green Guide. I think what Louise Schwarzkopf meant to say was that a central character will die, AND STAY DEAD! Dr Who companions seem to be dying & coming back to life more often than the Doctor himself.

So will Amy die… again? Will Rory die… again? And what about the doctor’s daughter? She seems to be out there somewhere in space. Perhaps if the doctor could get off the planet Earth a bit more often he might run into her! Let’s hope he won’t be glorifying criminal theft like in that Easter episode though!”

And what happened! (Well they didn’t print my letter that’s what) However the very next episode of DR WHO featured Rory drowning & having to be resuscitated. In the following episode we briefly saw Amy crying over the long dead body of Rory.

WHAT DID I TELL YOU?
WHAT DID I TELL YOU!

I think we’re going to get rather blasé about DR WHO characters dying. We already know the Doctor dies in 200 years time. Did River Song do it? Is that what we are supposed to think? Maybe he kills himself? We’ll just have to wait & find out.

But hopefully we won’t be sitting there going: “Oh dear Amy has just had her head bitten off by a Drashig, ho hum!” (Though I would like to see them bring back the Drashig or the Ogron!)

Imagine the doctor actually saving the Ogrons from the Ogron eating bean bag monster on their home planet. That would be interesting.
